GE Fanuc IC697MEM717 is a 12 MHz, 32 KB central processing unit that uses an 80C186 microprocessor. The individual slots of this CPU are located within the PLC rack. IC697MEM717 uses MS-DOS or Windows programming software (via Ethernet TCP/IP or SNP port) to program and configure the module correctly. There are no jumpers or DIP switches for configuration. During power on and operation, this CPU performs configuration verification. The alarm function can report deviations between actual and programmed configurations.
The functions of IC697MEM717 include controlling processes, machines, and systems to process materials in real-time. The CPU can support up to 8K analog I/O modules, including the discrete and analog module series of IC697. It communicates with intelligent option modules and I/O using the standard format VME C.1. Users can use a three position operation mode switch or programming software to control module operation. There are three green LEDs that indicate the CPU status.
