The W0OODWARD 8250-749 overspeed protection system provides overspeed protection for steam turbines, gas turbines, or other prime movers by monitoring signals from a three way magnetic reluctance transmitter (MPU). Especially for situations where the mechanical overspeed protection device has become unreliable at high speeds (>10000 rpm), ProTech 203 can be used as a replacement. The sensor used to detect actual speed is usually a Woodward reluctance speed sensor (MPU).
The W0OODWARD 8250-749 actuator can convert electrical control signals into rotational outputs, which are then amplified by hydraulic force to control servo position output. Hydraulic amplifiers are suitable for steam turbines or large engines with relatively large driving forces in the actuator.
W0OODWARD 8250-749 is applied to gas engines or steam turbines, and can replace PGPL, PGL, and PGD type governors without changing the original PG type drive linkage mechanism. This provides convenience for the transformation of electrical dispatch.
The W0OODWARD 8250-749 Current Pressure Converter (CPC) is designed to control steam valves, fuel valves, and/or corresponding servo mechanisms. It linearly and proportionally converts 4-20mA control signals into oil pressure output. CPC can be used in conjunction with many electronic control devices, such as WOODWARD MicroNet or 505 series controllers. It is suitable for pressure type servo systems or single acting power cylinders. CPC is also applicable to old machine renovation projects.
W0OODWARD 8250-749 is a mechanical hydraulic differential speed controller used to control steam turbines – a place that does not require synchronous (constant speed) operation. The large rotation angle of the output shaft of the TG-13 and TG-17 speed controllers is 40 °.
The recommended angle travel from no-load to full load is 2/3 of the full travel of the governor.
