The PMC-422 is a flexible solution for integrating multiple serial I/O channels onto a single board computer (SBC), VMEbus, or CPCI system. Efficiently package 8 serial channels onto a single PMC, effectively utilizing available PMC sites. Each serial port is implemented by a separate UART with an independent programmable baud rate. Each port in the pair has its own programmable line driver that can be set to any of the most popular signal types :RS232, RS422, RS485(full duplex and half duplex with terminated or unterminated options). The signal characteristics are set by the onboard DIP switch. Depending on the specific crystal used, each serial baud rate is programmed from 150 bit/s to 6.2 Mb/ s. In addition, a 16-bit universal timer/counter with 8 universal inputs is provided.
Four RS232 ports can be accessed via the front RJ45 connector
With the PMC input/Output module (PIM) PIM422, all ports are accessible on the rear input/output J4
